Bob Clark founded
Clark Cages in 1968.
In 1989, Bob the business
was passed to his
daughter, Dorothy.
Bob Clark founded Clark Cages in 1968 after discovering a need for quality cages in the animal care industry.
Bobby was originally a distributor of veterinary supplies in Calgary, Alberta and the business was then called Clark Cote Ltd. Through Bob’s travels (back then sales were done door to door) to visit the veterinarians he discovered a need for animal cages.
In 1978 Bob moved the company to North Bay where his family lived, and he changed the name to Clark Cages Inc.
Development of the Ready-to-Assemble cage, making Clark Cages one of the top four manufacturers of cages in North America.
Originally the design was for completely assembled cages and as the business began to expand into the United States, Bobby developed a more economical option, the Ready-to-Assemble model.
The RTA model proved to be much more economical for our customers both on the cost of the cage and the cost of shipping.
Expansion of client base, and passing the torch to the next generation of family.
We also expanded our client base from just Veterinarians to the entire pet industry. We changed our product for each of the different segments, cat cages for boarding, viewing cages for pet stores, and a dryer for groomers.
At this point in 1989 Bobby brought his daughter, Dorothy Clark into the company to help market to the pet industry. Very soon after, Bob became ill and Dorothy took over the day to day business. In 1993 Bob Clark passed away and Andre Udeschini was brought in as Vice president.
We are proud of our products and our
family-centric business culture.
In fact, 65% of our business comes from
repeat customers or referrals from satisfied
Clark Cages users.
Many reputable retailers, both large and small, have become apart of our Clark Cages family.
